Nifty Ideas: In my purse

Another round of fantastic nifty ideas I have discovered. You too may become inspired by these nifty things and in turn create your own. If you have any of your own nifty ideas please share them with me I'd love to learn about what is nifty to you.

A mother's handbag is full of all kinds of things. It begins with the diaper bag and continues on from there. I have given up the diaper bag years ago but soon it will be back. In the meantime there are many things I tote along in my purse/pack/handbag/carryall.

First and foremost there must be my pocketbook. I have been through several styles and found the one I love for its simplicity and functionality. My little red Hobo International Ally wristlet has been just the thing for me. I love it because it holds my cash, id, cards and phone together. the best part is that in a rush this wristlet is all I need to grab and go. Which makes it a perfect mini-purse. Although I do have my eye on their Zoe-vintage clutch. Hmm.

I can't tell you how much of a need hand cream is for me, I have to have some with me at all times. Because I have super dry skin I choose a very rich cream that will soften and soothe my hands. Thyme's Kimono Rose hand cream has a home in my bag.

Of course there are breath fresheners in there too. I know that after that 3rd cup of coffee I'm going to need something to clear that out of my mouth. I have mints and gum on hand. Right now I like TicTac freshmints and Stride Gum in spearmint. I also have some bubblegum for the girls so they too can have a little something.

I carry water. Always. Usually it's in one of our Sigg or Nalgene bottles. It all depends on where I'll be heading and how much to bring along. And sometimes when it's hot I'll throw together a little lemon, ginger ale and ice to take along. Now that is refreshing.

A flashlight. I can hear you laughing. No, seriously I carry a small Mag-Lite flashlight. After years of working in huge government buildings paired with numerous power outages it just seemed to make sense to me. Besides what kid can't find something to do with a flashlight on a dark night?

Snacks. I have to keep something on hand to keep the grumpy I'm hungry kids from taking over. I usually have granola bars or goldfish. Both seem to be pleasing enough that neither child nor parent seem to refuse.

Knitting. I have some sort of small thing to work on in there. I can't be too prepared for waiting and why not knit? Sometimes there will be a small paperback too but mostly I keep knitting close by.

A pen and small notepad are another must have. They were great for keeping toddlers busy drawing but now it's great for making lists.
