Heading East

Woke to Leah getting sick 3am. She did this every so often until 6am when I finally got up. The bed was a mess and so was she. We woke to say goodbye to some family as they were leaving early to get home. We got ready for 9am mass with the Great-Grandparents. After mass most of us went to Harlow’s for breakfast. All nine of ordered coffee and huevos rancheros the same way. The food was so good, divine.

We returned to the hotel to complete packing and were ready to leave at noon. Our goal is to reach Cortez Colorado before tonight. We plan to see Mesa Verde and get a little more vacation in before leaving the west.

It was a pretty drive to Cortez. We watched the cactus fade into bush and then into trees as we made our way out of the Valley of the Sun. The portion of the drive through the Indian nation lands was barren and quiet. The rain began in late afternoon and stuck through most of the drive. It was a massive storm system. Wendy’s for supper. Daddy spilled coke all over himself and the passenger seat. Not sure why he was having such a difficult time. An unusual series of spills and drops. He was quite a mess after all that.

In Cortez we found a Best Western. The room was a beautiful suite. Very spacious and what a deal. $99. There were no more rooms left only the suite. We really didn’t need a suite nor the price involved. Keith thanked the lady for her time and said we would just go somewhere else. Then she offered the room at a reduced rate and we took it. Nice.
