A nightmare some women faced

On my way into work today I listened to NPR's Morning Edition. The story that struck me the most was that by Louisa Lim on Cases of Forced Abortions Surface in China . A terrible awful result of a country's poor (coercive) family planning laws.

What a tragedy. I couldn't imagine the emotional devastation these women experienced and will continue to endure for the rest of their lives. I think that even some will not be able to handle the depression and may take their own lives to escape. To carry a child, a healthy child, for months only to have a government agency come in the dark of the early morning hours and force you to abort your child is an indescribable evil. Imagine the horror upon seeing these officials in your home. However the worst horror is yet to come for those women. Once at the hospital, being dragged against their will and forced to take injections knowing that their country, their government is murdering their child. It sounds like something out of a science fiction horror movie. Another reason that women in the United States should be thankful for the very limited rights to their bodies of which they still have control. For as long as women allow themselves to be treated as nothing more than vessels of procreation then this sort of horrific control will continue.

All I can think to do is pray for those women and their children and their families.
