Me and the dogs

I was just thinking about a new hairstyle when I found this picture.

That is a pretty awesome do. It says both, "Yes, this is my natural color," and "No, I don't prefer to dress for dinner, thank you very much". My hair style from around the same era said, "Yes, I might actually be a boy, thank you for asking."

Aside from the hair, look at those late '80s colors, lovely coordinating with your dogs there.

Really it's unfortunate that you can't see the actual height of the hair. I was pretty serious in those days, the height I could get my hair to reach. And for some reason mustard was a good color to choose? Why didn't someone stop me and tell me to avoid condiment colors?

'80s country look was so in. Lovin' the big flower prints. At least it wasn't that strange watercolor look so often linked to bad '80s design.

You were like 12 in that picture, so you didn't know about style. Gotta thank Aqua Net for the 80's.

Oh yeah, the big hair days. You have to remember that hair style was really rad. How cheezy is that?

You know your hair is too big when all of it doesn't make it into the picture. Ha ha! I remember those 80's days too--I had the SAME hairstyle. As for the colors, my mom still has the rust carpet in one room of her house, but at least she's replaced the 80's country blue furniture. I wonder what we'll be laughing at now in 20 years...

I totally know what you mean! I've tried to imagine what it will be, but everything seems so normal. I remember trying to do that in the early to mid-'90s as well, and being like, "But everyone is so boring! I mean, we knew spandex and hammer pants looked crazy then, but there's nothing like that now." Try watching first or second season episodes of "Friends." Every now and then I catch one on TV and I'm shocked by how high the pants were, how short the shirts, how big the layered hair. Plus, suspenders. ?? And the jeans! It's like everyone was wearing reverse-fit and keds.

Actually, keds are kind of my 80s fashion faux pas, so to speak, along with bike shorts/leggings (depending on the season) and big t-shirts. That's pretty much all I wore in elementary school. Usually the t-shirt had a detail on it in the same pattern as the pants/shorts. And I would only wear keds because they were the smallest tennis shoes. (I thought all other sneakers looked swollen and masculine - and therefore ew gross ugly.) I think it was maybe 6th grade (92-93) when I gave all that up for jeans or flannel baby doll dresses and Blossom hats.
