Nifty Ideas: Writing

Another round of fantastic nifty ideas I have discovered. You too may become inspired by these nifty things and in turn create your own. If you have any of your own nifty ideas please share them with me I'd love to learn about what is nifty to you.

Writing has been a human activity for thousands of years. The desire to communicate will never cease. I've been a life long writer. I've found solace in its silence a way to ponder my thoughts. Many of my writings are nothing more than thoughts of the moment. Then there are the various other forms: poems, stories, and even recipes. All sorts of things bounce their way around my head and I have numerous ways to record them. Sure this blog is one way to record my thoughts but my favorite way will always be in paper form.

I am very particular. In several ways. What I prefer for a decent writing experience is a decent paper. I seek out journals or notebooks that are made of good quality paper. Cheap spiral notebooks are now something of my past. I like to use these: Crane's Bamboo Garden and Saddleworn Ultra lined; Cavallini & Co. make great journals the Moderno is good; And these are nice too.

When you have your journal at hand the next thing you need is a good pen. I love pens. I have so many types of pens that I think it's a bit out of control in my desk drawer. Nevertheless I am always seeking a better pen. I have fancy pens that are heavy in the hand and smooth on paper. They are nice for a short letter or a brief journal entry. When I set myself down for a good writing session I prefer a lighter pen. It still must perform smoothly on paper but weight is the most significant aspect of the pen. I've have my favorites over time but as companies change those favored pens have gone away. Currently I like to use Papermate Profile retractable ballpoint pen. It is a medium point which I prefer for my handwriting style. They can be found at most stores which is such a great thing for getting refills. I love Quill's Sonix retractable ballpoint pen the most. It has a comfortable grip and smooth ballpoint which makes for a quick and steady ink flow.
