Nifty Ideas: Southwest style

Another round of fantastic nifty ideas I have discovered. You too may become inspired by these nifty things and in turn create your own. If you have any of your own nifty ideas please share them with me I'd love to learn about what is nifty to you!

Living in the Southwest is quite a delight. I enjoy the arid beauty. We travel out West often and have become quite fond of several things that make it the Southwest.

There is the cactus. They are great to eat in many ways. We love to get some of our favorite treats from the prickly pear: jelly, syrup, lollipops, tea, salsa and candy. Just as much as we enjoy eating cactus we also love to see them at the Desert Botanical Garden

Southwest cooking in crock pots is a great time saver. My favorite book is Southwest Slow Cooking, several wonderful easy recipes that you will love. I bought my copy 5 years ago when we visited Tempe last.

Dried chilies hanging around on porches are something I like to see. Chiles are a major part of the cuisine. Bottles of chile sauces can be found everywhere and in such variety it can make your head spin. There is jalapeno, habanero, and many I'd love to try.
