Oh my ears!

It happened. I was waiting and wondering when it would hit us. We've been doing quite well for some time. I didn't expect it to arrive in the middle of the night.

An earache.

In the baby's ear.

Oh what awfulness this has been for the little Lady A. She woke at 4am Monday burning up. It has been warm here for many days so at first in my sleepy head state I thought she was just hot. Perhaps I was also hoping it was nothing but being hot. Fever is not what a mother wants to discover in the dark hours of the night. A visit to the doctor confirmed the earache. We are waiting to see if the infection will go away or require antibiotics. It's likely a viral infection considering the high fever. A long wait for a little person to endure such pain. She has been as pleasant as possible. She wants Mama all the time and many snuggles. She is still eating which is a good sign. She also is VERY thirsty. Her nursing constantly is going to increase my supply. (Hello tight shirts) I am predicting a night of every 3 hours waking to nurse. A long night for me but what ever it takes to make her feel better. Perhaps that milk will cure her. It's a wonder maker that breast milk.

We still have a busy week ahead. I'm thankful that the weather has been normal and not blasting hot. Having to take a feverish baby around town in the HOT HOT day is not my idea of fun. Although I must say that Lady A sure is a trooper for enduring a 2 hour soccer tryout yesterday. I hope it was worth it those hours on the pitch. Olivia really wants to be on a travel soccer team again. I know she's good but so are all those other girls out there. We should know by Sunday. It will be a very long week for Olivia but we'll handle the news good or bad as it comes. We have a 5th grade graduation tomorrow. That is a big deal for Leah. I'm excited for her too. Apparently there will be songs and performances. She's so ready to be done with school. I'm not sure I'm ready for a middle schooler. Maybe next school year will be the one she shines in.

In the mean time I'm going to take a breath. Pause. Proceed with gentle kisses and long moments of quiet. A slower day today will likely be good for the sick one. She needs some rest today so that fever will break. Plus I need a break from all the running around. I'm eager to get my hands on some yarn to finish up a few projects for the girls and some for a dear friend.
