Spelling word list

The week of June 2-6 included a list with the following words:
friend, yesterday, although, school, mistake, dinner, through, understand, decide, problem, weather, America, knew, machine, beginning
Bonus:
achievement, accomplishment, readiness

Here is the result of Leah's work:

Yesterday I met a new friend in school. She came over for dinner. When we were beginning to eat the weather started to change. I knew it would rain. Me and my friend made a mistake by eating outside. We decided to quickly run inside.

*If you'd like to play along too*
The instructions for the 2nd grade spelling assignment are as follows: Write a paragraph using 8 of the listed words. You must use details, punctuation and indent. The spelling words are typically underlined in the written form, here I chose to use bold type to highlight the word. We have discovered (from teacher communication) that in a pinch you can pluralize and passive tense the words but we try to refrain from that if we can as it adds to the challenge.

Yesterday a friend came over for dinner. We wanted to discuss the various achievements and accomplishments of the current candidates. "America is a machine!" my friend declared. "No one wants to tackle the real problems!"

Yvonne, Leah's story is cute, but where is yours? I want more of the absentminded man with an overdue library book. And Amy, that's fantastic!
